Goin’ to the chapel and we’re gonna get married…

Published by Ashley at 11:13 pm under Day-to-Day

I became Mrs. Ashley Faus on May 31, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Texas! It was an AMAZING day, and I am so happy to be married to Matt!

The day started with a bridesmaids breakfast at Brittany’s house. She and her mom made a wonderful buffet, which included peach enchiladas! They followed the Hawaiian theme, complete with decorations and fruit displays! We took some fun pre-make up pictures. Matt’s mom hosted his family and groomsmen for a breakfast buffet.

We met at the church to get dressed and take pictures before the ceremony. Everything went perfectly… as far as I know!! My girls looked incredible in their purple dresses, and we had a good time hanging out before the ceremony! Both my grandmothers helped out… my Granny did my bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, and the corsages for the house party and family! My Oma made her famous strawberry cake for one of my reception tables! My brother Jay (guitar) and my Uncle Craig (french horn) played during the prelude and ceremony. Also, Matt’s dad and my Opa officiated the ceremony, so it was a great family event!

The ceremony flew by! Matt looked so handsome standing at the end of the aisle, and I would not want to share that moment with anyone else. We said our vows, exchanged rings, lit the unity candle, and signed the family Bible. Matt gave a HUGE smile when I signed my name “Ashley Faus” for the first time in the Bible! Then it was the kiss and “Mr. and Mrs. Matt Faus” walked down the aisle for the first time as a couple!

We had a cake and punch reception in the family center of First Baptist Carrollton. We had a table at the front of the room with our Bride and Groom cakes and punch fountains. There were themed tables surrounding room. Matt’s tables showcased his computer and motorcycle interests, while my tables showcased my music and theatre. Near the back of the room, we had engagement and bridal portraits, as well as a display of pictures from our childhood days. My cousin Jason caught the garter. Janelle, our nearly/newlywed class teacher’s daughter, caught the bouquet. Everyone blew bubbles as we headed out to the Camaro. The groomsmen had covered it in toilet paper and paper towels! We left in the Camaro to head to our second reception.

We arrived at Castle Hills Golf Club for a dinner and dance reception with friends and family. Matt and I danced to “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds Five for our first dance. My dad and I danced to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland… and everyone was tearing up. We had a great dinner buffet, and took some pictures. Then, we let the “Music Through the Ages” begin! We had tunes beginning in the 1940′s all the way through 2008!! Me, my brother, and my sister danced a lot… we like to try to steal the show from each other! My parents and Matt’s parents danced as well, so we had a great time! Toward the end of the night, the Howard boys gave an inspiring performance to N*Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye”, complete with spontaneous choreography!

I changed out of my dress to leave on the motorcycle! Our friends and family lit sparklers as we walked to the bike. Matt revved the engine, I climbed on the back, and we headed to our honeymoon! Check out the gallery for pictures of the day we began our life together!

Yup, it was a great day….I’m still enjoying the pictures, Margaret did a great job on them!

Congrats again to two very special people to have found each other.

    Love you both,
